TOKYO -- Sony Group says it will "aggressively consider any alternative opportunities" for expanding its business in India's entertainment market after a failed attempt to merge its subsidiary with local broadcaster Zee.

"In the long term, India remains a promising market" for Sony's entertainment content, said Hiroki Totoki, president, COO and CFO of the company, in an online news conference on Wednesday. Little information was shared during the event regarding Sony's Indian strategy after two years of negotiations and an initial commitment by Sony to spend around 180 billion yen ($1.2 billion) ended in failure last month.
