PALO ALTO, U.S. -- The historic opening weekend for "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" has underscored how content from popular video games may become a new golden goose for Hollywood.

A theater outside of San Francisco was abuzz with children dressed up as Mario during a show on Saturday. One boy was so engrossed as to raise his left arm, mimicking the character's pose on the screen.
