BANGKOK -- The Thai government is seeking to create a new law aimed at promoting its domestic gaming industry by providing tax incentives for developers.

New Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra -- daughter of the ruling Pheu Thai Party founder and former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra -- has voiced the importance of "soft power" for the country's economy, in which the gaming industry is expected to play a key role. Her predecessor, Srettha Thavisin, also mentioned upgrading Thai soft power by improving the digital skills of Thai workers.
