MANILA -- A locally produced live-action remake of 1970s Japanese robot anime "Voltes V" is a hit in the Philippines, giving renewed attention to the original show's ties to the country's complex political history.

"Voltes V: Legacy" hit Philippine televisions in May on the GMA Network, more than 40 years after the Toei Animation-produced anime first aired in Japan.
