Mitsubishi Motors to raise global output 40% in three years

Automaker will supply new model in Indonesia to Nissan

TOKYO -- Mitsubishi Motors aims to lift global vehicle production to at least 1.5 million units in fiscal 2019, up 40% from last fiscal year, the Japanese automaker's chief executive said at a shareholders meeting here Friday.

The targeted figure includes vehicles Mitsubishi Motors will supply to other companies, said CEO Osamu Masuko. In fiscal 2015, prior to its fuel economy falsification scandal, the carmaker's worldwide output totaled 1.2 million units.
