Namco Bandai finds winning combo in exporting pop idol show, game

TOKYO -- Japanese toymaker Namco Bandai Holdings is bringing its popular girl-oriented "Aikatsu!" TV animation and trading card game overseas. So far, it has proved a hit in Hong Kong and South Korea, and now the company hopes to repeat this success in other parts of Asia.

     Aikatsu is the story of budding teen idols aspiring to become stars. It was released in Japan in October 2012.
