Nintendo loses its visionary chief

OSAKA -- Nintendo President Satoru Iwata died of a bile duct tumor on July 11 at the age of 55. He had been reappointed as CEO just two weeks earlier. As the man who helped bring hit products such as the Nintendo DS to the world, Iwata saw the company's market capitalization surge past 10 trillion yen ($81.5 billion at current rates) in late 2007.
