Renault CEO calls for 'more equal' partnership with Nissan

Automakers' alliance needs to be redefined, says Luca de Meo

PARIS -- Renault CEO Luca de Meo told Nikkei that he believes the relationship between the French automaker and Japan's Nissan Motor needs to be "more equal."

Renault is in talks to reduce its stake in Nissan from the current 43%. He mentioned the need to "open another chapter [in the automakers' alliance]," noting that he wanted to redefine the partnership.
