Nissan cuts purchases of auto parts from cosy network

TOKYO -- Nissan Motor is further reorganizing its supplier network to expand its businesses with global auto parts giants that are leading the pack in the development of technologies for next-generation vehicles.

Symbolizing the accelerating shift in Nissan's parts-buying strategy is the carmaker's planned sale of its 41% stake in group supplier Calsonic Kansei. The bidding-based process of selling Nissan's shareholdings in the parts maker, which is listed on the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, is in the final stage.
