Nissan head office faces on-site probe over dodgy safety checks

Transport ministry takes a closer look at the company's own investigation

TOKYO -- Japan's transport ministry on Friday carried out an on-site inspection at Nissan Motor's headquarters in connection with improper final safety checks on its cars. As part of the inspection, the automaker is being urged submit documents to confirm the contents of its report on an internal investigation earlier submitted to the ministry.
