Nissan board agreed to discuss new Renault alliance in September

TOKYO -- Nissan Motor's board of directors in September agreed to a request from Chairman Carlos Ghosn to begin talking about altering the automaker's capital relationship with its parent, France's Renault, Nikkei has learned.

One Nissan executive familiar with the matter contends that Ghosn was thinking of integrating the companies under a holding company, and that there was a possibility a concrete plan would be ready sometime next spring.
