TOKYO -- Nissan Motor's Note compact and Serena minivan drove the automaker last month to the top two spots in Japanese sales of full-sized cars for the first time in 32 years, industry figures released Monday show.
The Note's sales volume soared 69.3% from January 2016 to 14,113 units, while the Serena skyrocketed 94.8% to 11,179 units. The debut of a new hybrid Note in November helped fuel sales. An all-new Serena introduced in August drew many customers seeking a function that controls the distance between the vehicle and the one ahead of it on expressways.
