NEW DELHI -- Ola, a taxi-hailing app from India, has added 'e-rickshaws' -- electric, three-wheeled samlors -- to its range of transport options for hundreds of millions of people living in outlying areas.

The innovation complements government efforts to foster entrepreneurship. Prime Minister Narendra Modi booked his first e-rickshaw ride using the Ola mobile app on Tuesday, riding as part of his Stand-Up India campaign to stimulate enterprise among women and less advantaged members of society.
