HONG KONG/JACKSONVILLE, U.S. -- Casino gambling may be in a slump in Macau and doing little better in Singapore or South Korea, but it's boom time on the Pacific island of Saipan where Chinese high rollers are wagering more than $1.5 billion a month at a temporary casino operating out of a duty-free mall.
It's all in the timing, according to Mark Brown, chief executive of Best Sunshine International, the casino's operator, who says the high rollers were looking for somewhere new to go.
