OSAKA -- Nintendo affiliate Pokemon Co. released a much-anticipated wearable accessory for the smash hit mobile game "Pokemon Go" on Friday, attracting so many fans that the device was sold out online and at the company's stores across Japan for the day by 11 a.m.
The Pokemon Go Plus can be worn around the wrist or as a clip-on. It will vibrate or flash when a Pokemon is nearby, even if the game is not open on the player's smartphone, and will also reflect the distance the player walks while the phone is locked. The device is priced at 3,500 yen, or $34.99 in the U.S.
