HONG KONG -- Chinese online retail rivals Alibaba Group and JD.com have reached a deal to further open their closed ecosystems to each other, amid slowing user growth and Beijing's antitrust scrutiny, sources familiar with the matter told Nikkei Asia.

Under the arrangement, which the companies would start to implement in late October, Alibaba's Taobao and Tmall would integrate JD's logistics service while JD would add Alibaba's fintech arm Alipay as an additional payment option, one of the sources said. The person described the move as beneficial to both parties and "in line with Beijing's antitrust directive."
