TOKYO -- Amazon invested more than 1.2 trillion yen ($8 billion) in Japan last year, up 20% over the previous year, the company's local arm said Tuesday, in a push to expand its logistics network and data centers.

Amazon Japan opened large fulfillment centers in Hyogo prefecture, near Osaka, as well as Kanagawa and Saitama prefectures, near Tokyo, in 2022. Eighteen delivery stations, which handle last-mile deliveries to customers, were also built.
