TOKYO -- Japanese 7-Eleven operator Seven & i Holdings has announced plans to improve corporate value by spinning off non-core businesses and shifting focus to convenience stores. But with the convenience store business in a slump, the market isn't buying the measures.

"There are few surprises, and the road to an improved stock price will be difficult," said an analyst.
