SEOUL -- After passing through an alley lined with small, urban factories and reverberating with the sound of cutting machinery at work, a large luxury Dior store suddenly appears.

Welcome to Seongsu-dong, a neighborhood in South Korea's capital that has developed a unique blend of '70s-era small factories and the coolest of the country's cool youth culture.
