TOKYO -- Duty-free sales at Japanese department stores increased 2.8 times on the year in October to a record 38.3 billion yen ($258 million), the Japan Department Stores Association said Friday.

The figure topped the 34.4 billion yen from April 2019 as foreign tourists flock back to the country, driving up customer traffic at department stores.
