TOKYO -- FamilyMart and Lawson, Japan's second and third largest convenience store chains, will begin partnering on deliveries as a driver shortage is expected to deepen, Nikkei has learned.

The companies on Thursday will begin using the same trucks to deliver frozen food in some areas of the country's northern region of Tohoku. They will also consider expanding the areas where joint deliveries are made.
