TOKYO -- 7-Eleven convenience stores have become a can't-miss destination for many international tourists in Japan for picking up items ranging from one-of-a-kind snacks to unlikely top sellers.

An analysis of what foreign tourists come to 7-Eleven for here has "revealed hidden clues" to finding business opportunities, said an operations manager at Seven & i Holdings unit Seven-Eleven Japan. While they may stop by any convenience store for something they need then and there, they also choose 7-Eleven for such services as currency exchange and ATM withdrawals because the chain enjoys greater international name recognition.
