TOKYO -- Japan's 7-Eleven convenience store chain owner Seven & i Holdings is considering plans to go private by means of a management buyout, Nikkei learned on Wednesday.
In a statement responding to the reports, the retail giant has admitted that it has received such an offer from its founding family. According to sources, the family has approached financial institutions about raising funds for the plan to fend off a takeover bid by Canada's Alimentation Couche-Tard.
