HIGASHIOSAKA, Japan -- Faced with an ever-shrinking market for kidswear at home, Japanese children's clothier Miki House is accelerating efforts to transform itself into a upscale brand to court affluent parents across the globe.

A coat costing roughly $2,800 and a $1,300 sweater are among the "Gold Label" items available at Miki House's outlet in Hankyu Department Store's flagship branch in Osaka.
