TOKYO -- Fast Retailing, the owner of Japanese clothing chain Uniqlo, plans to put digital tracking technology in its supplier factories to help prevent its stores from running out of hot items.

"It's essential to track materials to make stores and factories as connected as possible," Chief Information Officer Takahiro Tambara told Nikkei Asia in an interview at a trade show in Singapore last week.
