TOKYO/NEW YORK -- Uniqlo's sister brand GU opened its first U.S. store Thursday in New York, foraying into the world's largest apparel market where global fashion houses are waging cutthroat competition.
Ahead of the opening, Tadashi Yanai, chairman and president of GU parent Fast Retailing, tasked the brand's CEO, Osamu Yunoki, with a daunting challenge.
