MOSCOW -- Russian state oil giant Rosneft filed an 89 billion ruble ($1.41 billion) lawsuit against participants of the Sakhalin-1 oil and gas project on Monday, Russia's Itar-Tass news agency and other media reported.

Rosneft has not disclosed details, but a protracted legal dispute could hinder future development and economic cooperation between Japan and Russia.
