Samsung to build new chip plant in South Korea

SEOUL -- Samsung Electronics will invest 15.6 trillion won ($14.8 billion) to build a semiconductor plant near Seoul in the city of Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, the company said Monday.

     The South Korean electronics giant plans to begin construction on the chip plant during the first half of 2015 and have it in operation by the second half of 2017.
