TOKYO -- Japan's SoftBank Group says it will discuss forming a strategic partnership between British chip design unit Arm and South Korea's Samsung Electronics.

"I want to discuss a strategic alliance between Samsung and Arm," group Chairman and CEO Masayoshi Son said Wednesday in a statement. He plans to visit South Korea for the first time in three years.
