Spring Airlines parent plans foray into Japanese hotels

SHANGHAI -- The parent company of Chinese low-cost carrier Spring Airlines announced plans Wednesday to open 15-20 hotels in Japan in three to five years.

     China Spring Group has partnered with Sun Frontier Fudousan, a Tokyo-based real estate business, to form a company that will invest 20 billion yen ($164 million) to develop hotels under the Spring Sunny brand name. The first one, a 15-story facility including baths drawn from hot springs, is slated to open in Aichi Prefecture by June.
