BEIJING -- A Chinese article and video aggregation startup backed by technology giant Tencent Holdings is focusing not on its home market but on India, showing how bruising competition within China is beginning to spill over.
By noon, the NewsDog office in Beijing's tech hub of Zhongguancun is packed with young engineers peering into computer screens filled with lines of code. The 50 employees, almost all Chinese, do not balk at overtime and usually work through the night, said co-founder and chief executive Yukun Chen. Their task: building a content aggregation "superapp" for India.
