Indian startups lock horns with old guard over two-wheeler EVs

Legacy manufacturers are going slow and steady while startups accelerate

BENGALURU -- A group of ambitious startups making big promises are aiming to upend India's nascent electric two-wheeler market, as the government strives to give the motor sector a green makeover.

Flush with funds, the new entrants are snapping at the heels of the old guard in two-wheeler manufacturing, including Bajaj Auto, TVS Motor Company and Hero MotoCorp, all of whom have so far approached electric vehicles (EVs) with restraint.
