PALO ALTO, California -- A house on a residential street in San Francisco is at the center of a growing mutual support network among Japanese entrepreneurs on the West Coast.

One recent day, 10 or so startup founders were seated together at a long table, eating Chinese food and discussing such issues as how to build a company culture and things to look out for when hiring.
