TOKYO -- South Korea's Shinhan Financial Group will create a roughly 5 billion yen ($36.5 million) fund to invest in startups from Japan and its home country.

The fund will be established as early as this month with capital from subsidiary Shinhan Venture Investment and Japanese investors.
