Stealth jet program opens door to broader horizons

The X-2 stealth fighter took seven years and about 40 billion yen to build.

TOKYO -- Japan's attempt to build its first indigenous stealth fighter jet could provide domestic defense contractors with a much-needed opportunity to take their business global.

     The recently unveiled  X-2 demonstrator will take its initial test flight in February. It is already drawing attention from the West for its cutting-edge technology.
