TAIPEI -- Taiwan's information technology sector is facing a serious threat from aggressive mainland companies.

At almost every press conference, Taiwanese reporters ask managers of IT companies what they make of the so-called "red supply chain" threat. The red supply chain refers to a fast-growing cluster of mainland companies snatching market share from Taiwanese counterparts, often thanks to massive financial support from the Chinese government.
