Tata Sons' $1.27 billion payment to NTT Docomo ended a three-year dispute that began after poor earnings led the Japanese company to withdraw from India, setting off difficult negotiations.

TOKYO -- NTT Docomo received a payment of 144.9 billion yen ($1.27 billion) from Tata Sons, the Japanese carrier said Tuesday, ending a dispute that erupted more than three years ago when the telecom company announced its withdrawal from India.
