TAIPEI -- New materials and more advanced chemicals will play an increasingly important role in the chipmaking industry as companies like TSMC and Intel push current production technologies to their limits, supply chain executives say.

Senior executives from Entegris and Merck spoke with Nikkei Asia about how the global chip race is evolving as Moore's Law -- the premise that transistors will continue to shrink and chips become more powerful -- slows down.
