TAIPEI -- China on Monday announced new regulations to restrict exports of several key materials that are vital for electric vehicles, renewable energy, semiconductors and military tech.

The regulations, set to take effect on Aug. 1, follow moves by the U.S., the Netherlands and Japan to curb exports of cutting-edge semiconductor tools to China in an effort to curb its chip ambitions.
