TOKYO -- India aims to promote investments from Japanese companies and build a solid manufacturing supply chain in the semiconductor industry by making a "complementary" partnership between the two countries.

"I see a complementarity [relationship] between India and Japan in this [semiconductor] field, not competition," Sibi George, Indian ambassador to Japan, said in a recent interview with Nikkei Asia.
