BEIJING -- Intel will expand a chip-packaging and -testing plant in the Chinese city of Chengdu under plans announced Monday, less than two weeks after a state-linked group's call to screen the American company's products for security risks.

The expansion project, announced on Chinese social media, will add capacity for server chips. A customer solutions center will be set up to boost local supply chain efficiency, improve support for Chinese clients and speed up response time, according to Intel.
