TOKYO -- Japanese ink producer DIC has developed new materials for semiconductors that do not use organic fluorine chemical compounds called PFAS, which have been criticized as "forever chemicals" for their long-term impact on the environment.

The company is responding to potential new regulation of the substance in Europe as a commercial opportunity to develop alternative products in response to customer requests and regain market share from foreign rivals.
