TOKYO -- Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Wednesday visited a site in Hokkaido where chipmaker Rapidus is building an advanced semiconductor plant, which is seen as a crucial part of bolstering the country's supply chains and economic security.
Kishida took the opportunity to drum up support for the project, telling reporters that he was committed to urging the legislature to allocate state-backed funding for the project.
