TOKYO -- Japanese semiconductor trading companies like Sun-Wa Technos and Kaga Electronics are accelerating overseas expansion, hoping to tap demand in emerging countries as their home market continues to shrink.

"We had been looking for an opportunity to expand into India, which will be home to the largest population in the world," said Hiroyuki Tanaka, chairman and president of Sun-Wa Technos.
