MediaTek launches AI smartphone chipset with latest TSMC 3-nm tech

Launch comes as phone makers race to put artificial intelligence onto devices

TAIPEI -- Taiwan's MediaTek has launched its latest smartphone AI chipset, bringing the industry's most advanced semiconductor production tech to the Google Android phone camp for the first time.

MediaTek, the world's top smartphone chip developer by shipments, said on Wednesday that its new 5G mobile chipset, dubbed Dimensity 9400, is made with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.'s latest generation 3-nanometer process technology, which Apple uses for its artificial intelligence-capable iPhone 16 series.
