TOKYO -- Mitsubishi Electric will begin mass-producing next-generation optical chips in January to meet growing demand for faster devices from data center operators around the world, the company said on Tuesday.
The company said it will start sample shipments of the newly developed optical chip for data reception in October, adding to the existing lineup of chips for data transmission. Production capacity for optical chips will be increased by 50% by next year, it added.
