LONDON -- U.S. chipmaker Nvidia appears set to ditch the purchase of British chip designer Arm for $40 billion due to continued resistance from U.S. antitrust authorities.

Nvidia has communicated to business partners that what would have been the biggest deal in the chip industry will not come to fruition, according to a Bloomberg report on Tuesday, citing anonymous sources.
