BARCELONA, Spain -- Top mobile chip companies Qualcomm and MediaTek are racing to put generative AI capabilities on devices as the tech industry searches for the next generation of killer applications.

Qualcomm's Durga Malladi says commercialization of on-device AI "has come along very nicely" but is still in its early stages.
