TOKYO -- Chipmaker Rapidus and auto supplier Denso plan to share methods for designing advanced chips for use in such areas as artificial intelligence and self-driving vehicles, hoping to boost the competitiveness of Japan's chip industry as a whole.
The two Japanese companies are part of an eight-member group launched by SEMI, an international industry group that seeks to advance the global semiconductor supply chain. Other members include Zuken, a Japanese design software developer, and German tech group Siemens.
