TOKYO -- Sony Group plans to reinvigorate earnings at its image sensor segment by cultivating business among Chinese smartphone manufacturers.

"Image sensors are vital as electronic eyes, and we will deliver them to customers across the world," Sony Group President Hiroki Totoki said on Friday during a ceremony to mark the completion of an expansion at the Nagasaki Technology Center, where the company makes image sensors.
